Kara + Blake | Boise Engagement Photographer | Raft Media

Kara and Blake are high school sweethearts. They've been together 7 1/2 years and they are still giddy around each other, I absolutely love it! All they had to do was look at one another and they started laughing. I totally believe that a couple who has fun together is in it for the long haul, and they fit this bill perfectly.
The first time she caught his eye was when she was cheerleading at the BSU field and happened to be on the big screen. [He was on the football team, a match made in heaven!] So it only made sense to do part of their engagement session in flashback mode!
Raft Media is starting a new feature where we interview the couple and share their story!
So here is Kara and Blake's Interview:

Question #1:How did you two meet?
We met in high school (Meridian High) We had math together and became friends, we both were dating other people at the time but just getting to know one another as friends. When we both became single the winter of 2005 We had a photography class together the spring semester and started dating! Blake told me later that he saw me on the big screen cheering when he was watching film of his football game at bronco stadium :)

Question #2: What's your engagement story?
Blake had planned for 3 months to take me up in a hot air balloon and propose. Riding in a hot air balloon is something I have been dying to do for a long time! So as we are waiting to go up at 6am the pilots are sending helium balloons up to check the winds. They saw that the winds above were too unpredictable and so we couldn't go up. We both were quite disappointed and we couldn't reschedule for another month. So we went up to the Boise Train Depot to take some pictures of the sunrise. While the sun was rising over the foothills, Blake got down on one knee (on a hard sheet of rock!) and asked me to marry him and I of course said yes!

Question #3: What's one of your funnest dates together?
One of the best, most romantic dates Blake ever took me on was when he drove us up to Stanley to watch a meteor shower. We stayed up until the wee hours of the morning watching from the bed of the truck and slept under the stars. In the morning we went the Redfish Lake to take pictures of the sunrise over the lake and then to the local amazing bakery before heading back home.
Question #4: Where do you see yourself in five years?
In 5 years we see ourselves being set in our careers and starting to think about having a family.

Question #5: If you guys have $50 to blow on a Friday night, how do you spend it?
With $50 on a Friday night we would get snacks and movies and spend our time just the two of us.

Question #6. Which of you is more likely to survive if stranded on an island and why?
We decided that I would survive because Blake has no sense of direction and he would probably get lost!
Question #7: What radio station do you listen to? And what song do you rock out to together?
Honestly music is one of the few things in which we have completely opposite tastes. So usually we turn the radio off and talk about our day in the car or listen to sports talk radio. The one song we can rock out to together is LMFAO's Party Rock! We like to goof around and dance like fools haha!

Chelsea | Boise Senior Photography | Downtown Boise

I remember when I got my Senior Portraits done [...okay it wasn't recently, but not quite back to the dark ages either!] There's something fabulous about choosing the outfits, getting all glammed up and having a photographer follow you around capturing your essence for everyone to remember you by.
Chelsea wanted an urban style shoot so we headed for Downtown Boise for this session!

When I saw the category for this contest was "Beauty", this photo is the first one that came to mind. Sarah | Boise Senior Photography

Whether they were running from giant bugs, doing the dosey-do, throwing their cowgirls hats in the air or pretending to be cowboys chewing on a piece of grass—Sarah and her best friend Emily had me cracking up this whole shoot. There's something about cowgirl boys, sundresses and sunsets that just makes my heart happy! I love all types of Senior shoots here in Boise, but these types may just be my favorite! I think it's because I'm from Montana and a bit of a small-town girl myself!

Megan + Colin | Boise Wedding Photography | Sawtooth Winery Wedding

Megan and Colin’s wedding at the Sawtooth Winery in Idaho was breathtaking. From the heartwarming vows they gave to Megan’s daughter Mia, to the beautiful sunset on the vineyard, it was perfect. I’m so honored that Raft Media got to capture their big day for them, here are some sneak peeks.

When Colin proposed to Megan he proposed to her daughter Mia as well. SO sweet. We had to get a ring shot of al of them!

Hilary + Justin | Boise Engagement Photographer

Meet Hilary & Justin. They love each other... a lot. I've known Hilary since she was in high school and we used to go on runs together and chat about life. She has this bubbly, super happy, sweet, personality that just brightens your day when you are around her. I'm so happy she has found the man of her dreams and he just cherishes her. This engagement session was a blast for me to see them just so happy together and loving every minute. I can't wait to photograph their wedding this August!
Walked by a Valentines Day chalkboard outside a coffee shop...too cute.
Fair enough, if you steal her heart, she's gonna take your last name :)
So sweet, they just loved being around each other.
He was the perfect height for this sneak attack.
 Model status right here Hilary.
 This one makes me smile.
More kisses, love is in the air!
 Thinking about forever.
 The bling!
The future Mrs. Derby
She can't take her eyes off him.
One of my favorites from this shoot. The nose wrinkle means she's really happy.
We were taking photos outside of a church and the caretaker invited us in.
The last couple of shots at sunset.
